Zambia man living with live snake says it's his grandfather's spirit (Video)

A Zambian man shocked police authorities when he was found to be living with a live snake, saying it is the spirit of his grandfather.

A man in Zambia, Rabson Mkandawire, caused a stir after he was found to be living with a live snake in his house, claiming it is the spirit of his grandfather, reports Lusaka Times.

Mkandawire who is also known as Dr. Simbazako, was arrested by the police for being in possession of wildlife after he was found moving around with the snake in his trouser pocket.

Dr. Simbazako who visited the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA), office to follow-up on discussions to obtain a certificate to domesticate his snake, refused to part with the reptile because 'it has been protecting him for several years'.

“I could not come with the snake here, but as you know ‘spirits’ need to be treated with the respect they deserve,” he reportedly told authorities.

He also said that since he took the snake to Chingwere Cemetary as he has faced challenges in convincing the spirits to be brought to ZAWA for the certification and they have given ZAWA a period of 21 days to approve his request.

"My annoyed grand father’s spirit instructed me to give ZAWA 21 days to sort out and give me a Certificate," he added.
