Baker bride makes lifesize cake of herself and the groom for their wedding

A talented baker decided to go all out for her wedding by creating and designing a huge cake of herself and her husband on their wedding day.

29-yr-old bride Lara Clarke said she thought her 27-yr-old Nikki Mason looked good enough to eat when she first met him.

This inspired her to make a lifelike edible version of the couple in their wedding outfit for their big day.

Clarke and Mason's wedding took place in Malta in October but she created the cake for their reception party in which 200 guests were invited.

The huge cake was made from 20kgs of icing and 20kgs of chocolate cake and took 20 hours to create in all, Birmingham Mail reports.

The couple met about nine years ago at the Sunderland University during Freshers Week. They began dating after Lara won a drinking game.

“We both like a laugh and thought it would be great to create a cake which would give our guests a good laugh.

“I have created myself as the happy bride on our wedding day with Nikki drinking cans of lager from a ‘marriage survival kit’ as a way of coping with getting married to me.

“We never ended up eating the cake on the night as people were too busy taking pics of it, so I actually left the cake at the club for the players there to cut up and enjoy.

“It took me around 20 hours to create where usually I would spend about 150 hours on a cake of that size so it was a little rushed,“ the creative bride said.
