Nigerian prostitute dies in Burkina Faso

A young Nigerian girl who was trafficked into Burkina Faso to work as a prostitute has been found dead in a brothel in that country.

A Nigerian prostitute who was trafficked as a sex slave to West African country of Burkina Faso, has been found dead in a brothel called ‘Bar Dancing Petit Ouaga’, in Toudoubweogo village in Ouagadougou, barely a month after PM News' investigative report in January, 2015, unveiled her story.

In the report the paper carried, the girl who identified herself as Gift from Edo State, Nigeria, said she was trafficked as a sex slave into the country by a syndicate with a promise of a good life, but ended up living in awful conditions.

In the report, PM News' reporter had travelled to Burkina Faso where he discovered a sophisticated human trafficking ring that takes girls all the way from Nigeria with the false promises of making their lives better in Europe via Burkina Faso.

The deceased lady who said she was 18-years-old when she was trafficked to the country, narrated how she had travelled with someone for three days to get to Burkina Faso in April 2014.

Gift had also said that she would be free to move on with her life once she pays off the traffickers an agreed sum of money.

But that dream will not be fulfilled because according to two activists who have been following the case, she died a week ago.
