Shari'a court remands 21-yr-old student for stabbing man

A 21-year-old student, Shahidullahi Sale, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly stabbing one Shuaibu Labaran.

Sale was arraigned before a Shari’a Court sitting at Sabon Gari, Kano, on Tuesday and charged with causing grievous hurt.

Police prosecutor, Cpl. Ahmed Magawata, said the offence that contravenes section 163 of the Kano Shari’a Law.

According to him, the victim had on May 29 reported the case to Gwagwarwa Police Division, Kano.

He said the accused had used a sharp knife to stab his victim (Labaran) in his right leg, causing him serious injury which led to his being hospitalized.

The accused pleaded guilty when the when the First Information Report (FIR) was read out to him.

Presiding Judge, Malam Abubakar Ayagi, ordered the accused to be remanded in prison and adjourned the case to June 15.
