According to metro.co.uk, Trey Sims was 17 years old at the time when detective David Abbott asked him to masturbate so that he could take a picture of him to serve as evidence in court.

The detective had wanted to compare the picture of Sims’ erect penis to one that was in a video that the teenager was alleged to have sent to his 15-year-old girlfriend.

Sim could not get erection apparently because of the presence of other armed police officer, but detective David Abbott took pictures of him anyway.

Later, detective Abbot obtained another warrant for a medical injection that would induce an erection so another picture could be taken, but a public backlash made the authorities rescind their decision.

Eventhough the detective committed suicide a year later after he himself was hit with a different child sex abuse scandal, Sim is now in court claiming that the photographs taken of his penis amounted to invasion of his privacy.

The case was filed in 2016, but was dismissed by U.S. senior judge Claude Hilton that same year. However, it has been revived.

Judge Barbara Milano Keenan is hearing the case now said, “We cannot perceive any circumstance that would justify a police search requiring an individual to masturbate in the presence of others.”
