Married man jailed for defiling mentally-ill girl in Nogokpo

A circuit court in Aflao in the Volta region has sentenced a 40-year-old married man from Nogokpo to 11 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to defiling a 15-year-old mentally-ill girl.

Reports say the victim, Jacob Dotse Sedzedo who is a farmer and father of two engaged in the despicable act in the absence of his partner who had traveled.

Jacob Dotse Sedzedo reportedly lured the girl into his room where he kept her for four days and consistently had sex with her multiple times within the period.

Inspector Esperance Agbo narrated to the court presided over by Ali Baba Abature that, the convict had kept the victim indoors and subjected her to sexual assault until news of her missing went viral in the vicinity.

He said the convict who lives in the same area with the victim and her parents released her, apparently out of fear.

However, as soon as she was released, the victim narrated her ordeal to her parents who reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of Jacob Dotse Sedzedo.
