Growing up, most little girls tend to be fussy about the shoes they wear, but not Ama. She was born with two large toes on her right foot, which makes it impossible for her to wear shoes.
Meet The Two-Toed Girl Who’s Never Worn Shoes
This little girl was born with two-toes on her right foot and this has made it impossible for her to wear shoes.
The growth has since been increasing in size over the years. The abnormal growth causes her no physical pain, but the family fears it would grow even bigger if not rectified soon.
For fear of her child being stigmatised, Ama’s mother is reluctant to send the little girl to school. Ama’s aunty, Felicia told Starr Newsthat even while staying at home, she is being ridiculed. “People shy away from her…you know, we have so many pastors and prophets in the system, who could take advantage of the situation to gain cheap popularity”.
Ama’s mother who earns a living by going from house-to-house doing laundry for residents in their neighbourhood cannot afford the Ghc4,000 [about $1,200] needed for a surgery to correct her child’s defect. Her aunty says a bright future awaits little Ama, should she get normal toes. “We see the potential of her becoming a doctor, a police or even a lawyer”.
Ama’s family is therefore appealing to kind-hearted people to help them pay for the needed operation.
