Man arraigned for 'willfully' damaging 6m naira car
A man has been arraigned at a Lagos Magistrate’s Court, Ikeja, on a two-count charge of false pretence and unlawful and wilful damage of a Ford car worth N6 million.
The defendant allegedly obtained N130,000 from one Chief Abiola Ogundokun under the false pretext of repairing his Ford car.
Ayoade was also said to have wilfully and unlawfully damaged the car.
However, the suspect, who was arraigned by the police before Chief Magistrate A. O. Komolafe, pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him.
The prosecutor, Mr. Eranus Nnamonu, a Superintendent of Police, informed the court that the alleged offences were contrary to Section 312(1)(b) and punishable under Section 312(3) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
The magistrate granted him bail in the sum N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said the sureties must have paid their taxes for three years and ordered that their addresses be verified.
The matter was adjourned till July 23 for mention.
