Woman Recovers Stolen Phone After Stranger Posts Selfie To Facebook

A woman, who lost her iPhone has it back in her possession after a stranger accidentally posted a selfie to her Facebook snapped with the missing phone.

A 33 year old woman,Australia, Nicola Shelton whose bag containing her credit cards, wallet and iPhone was stolen while on holiday in Byron Bay, found her phone back after she saw selfie taken with her phone on Facebook.

But in a bizarre chance occurrence, the Melbourne woman ended up recovering the smartphone after its new owner took a selfie and which was uploaded to her Facebook page

Believing the man in the photo to be the thief, she reposted the picture with the caption: ‘So this is the low life that stole my bag/iPhone and has decided to take a photo with my phone and post it on my Facebook!! Scum! Bag stolen in Byron bay on February 14, please share to everyone!!!’

After nearly 20,000 shares across Australia, Ms Shelton heard from the man in the selfie, who explained that he had bought the phone from someone without knowing it had been stolen. He later handed it to Byron Bay police, who returned it to Ms Shelton.

‘I’m just amazed by the help from people I don’t even know,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I’m happy to get my phone back.’
