Married 30-yr-old Catholic school teacher jailed 15 years for sex with teenage student

A Catholic high school teacher, Kathryn Ronk, has been handed a six to 15-year jail term for having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old student.

Ronk, a married 30-year-old taught Spanish at the Bishop Foley High School, Madison Heights, Michigan, US.

Her victim (unnamed) is also a student of the school.

The teacher was left in tears as Judge Nanci Grant found her guilty of five counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

According to Inquisitr, Ronk gave an emotional apology before her sentencing.

“I’m so sorry for the victim and his family, for the school and the community, my family… and I’m so sorry for my husband," she said.

"With (psychological) treatment, I’m getting better. I know I have to go away but this is a life-long journey, and I am meeting it…. I’m so sorry for those who I have hurt.”

Judge Grant sentenced the accused to six to 15 years in prison.

Ronk is also ordered to pay court fines and comply with sex offender registration.

"You did something you shouldn’t have done,” she said.

The Judge said the victim may be damaged for life because of Ronk's action.

“You don’t know what you did to him, and he may not realize it for years to come," Grant said.

"Fifteen is 15. He’s still a boy figuring out the ways in the world.”

Ronk had pleaded guilty in February and could be considered for parole in just over five years’ time.
