34-yr-old civil servant rapes 15-yr-old girl

A 34-year-old civil servant faces a long stretch in jail for raping a 15-year-old girl.

Rape is a crime

34-year-old Segun Oluyara, has been charged to the Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.

According to the prosecutor in the case, ASP Godwin Anyanwu, Oluyara, a civil servant, who resides at No. 36, Oduntan Street, Ketu, committed the offence of illegal sexual intercourse with the minor on March 18, 2015, at No.114, Ogunmefun Street, Pedro, Lagos.

Anyanwu said the accused and the victim met at a restaurant and he promised her job.

"The accused took the victim to a guest house and claimed to be the owner. He then took the victim to a room and pushed her on the bed before he forcefully had unlawful with her.

The accused gave the victim a soft drink and a drug ‘postinor 2,′ to prevent pregnancy. The girl told her mother, who reported the case to the police and the accused was arrested.

The victim was taken to the hospital for medical checkup and treatment."

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Soladoye, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 while the case was adjourned May 4, 2015.
