Man Dies Over 20 Pesewas

A 35 year old man in Ashaiman near Tema died after falling off a trotro he was hanging on to demand his change.

Razak Abdul Salifu, 35, died instantly last week when he fell from a TroTro he was hanging on to demand a change of 20 pesewas. The Daily Guide reports

The deceased, who resides at Newtown, a sub­urb of Ashaiman, was said to have disagreed with the driver, William Owusu, over the actual change due him after paying the fare.

When Salifu got down from the vehicle, he decided to hang onto it in an attempt to put pressure on the TroTro mate for the 20 pesewas changed allegedly due him.

However, the driver reportedly sped off with the victim hanging onto the vehi­cle's driving mirror.

Salifu fell off and hit his head on the road. He died shortly after he admitted at the Tema General Hospital.

His body has since been released to the family for burial.

The driver subsequently reported himself to the Ashaiman police and is currently assisting with investigations.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Afari Kwame Gyasi, Commander in-charge of the Ashaiman MTTD, told the Daily Guide the driver said the incident occurred on February 7, 2015 at about 10:45 pm when the deceased boarded his vehicle from the Madina Lorry Park in Accra to Ashaiman.

DSP Gyasi said there had been a minor altercation between the deceased and driver before the disagreement over the 20p change ensue
