Staying away from men is my secret to long life – 112-year-old woman

Jessie Gallan, a Scottish woman told newsmen that staying away from men has been her topmost secret to long life, describing men as “trouble”.

As of 2016, a World Health Organisation data estimated the average lifespan of human beings globally at 72 years.

While many are struggling to find means of improving their health so as to live long, a Scottish woman, Jessie Gallan is privileged to have lived for the past 112 years and still counting.

Responding to curios newsmen who attempted to unravel the secrets to her long and fulfilling life, Jessie Gallan said staying away from men has been her topmost secret, describing men as “trouble”.

"My secret to a long life has been staying away from men. They're just more trouble than they're worth," the old woman revealed.

Aside the claim of having almost nothing to do with men, she told STV news that taking porridge in the morning, regularly exercising her body as well as smiling a lot also contributed to her long life.

Meanwhile, Jessie Gallan’s view about men may be subject to debate. Some men also consider women as trouble, but the common understanding since time immemorial has been that both sexes are relevant to and complement each other.
