She was shocked to hear the crying sounds and believing the mountain to be haunted by some evil spirits, she ran to a Buddhist temple close by for help.

A priest at the temple followed her and after listening to the sound, was convinced that it was the sound of a crying child. He immediately called in the police who dug the area and rescued the baby.

The child was buried just five centimeters below the earth surface in a cardboard box. Police also found blankets and other items of clothing inside the box. The baby was rushed to the Tian Dong County People's Hospital where he received emergency medical treatment.
