A hospital in India has temporarily released two doctors from their duties after a video surfaced online showing them arguing while standing over a pregnant patient during an operation.

The video, which was from the Umaid hospital in north Rajasthan has since caused public outcry, BBC reports.

Earlier news reported that the woman pictured on the operating table gave birth to a baby who did not survive.

But Dr Ranjana Desai, the superintendent of Umaid Hospital in Jodhpur, said this was inaccurate, adding that the woman and her baby are fine.

In the said video, the two doctors could be heard trading insults at each other in Hindi. They could also be heard arguing over whether the patient had eaten before surgery.

The two doctors have since been identified as Dr Ashok Nanival and Dr Mathura Lal Tak.

Dr Desai said the hospital has now begun an internal inquiry over the matter. He added that the hospital will also be taking statements from workers to find out who shot the video and how it got leaked.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan High Court has ordered the hospital to submit a report, while they go ahead with a separate state level investigation into the incident.
