A seven year old girl has been rescued by the Police in Dodibi, in the Eastern region after she was found chained by her parents.
Agnes Asantewaa had been chained and starved for a week by her parents as punishment for eating their food without permission.
Recounting her story, Asantewaa said she took portions of her parents meal because she was hungry but was beaten by her mother and tied to a tree as punishment for her action.
The Dodibi Police station officer,Chief Inspector Seth Ehurem said they were informed of the plight of the child by a good samaritan and were looking for the parents of Asantewaa who are currently on the run.
Chief Inspector Ehurem also confirmed that Asantewaa would be handed over to the Social Welfare department as investigations continue.
