5 home treatments for frizzy hair

For many women, frizzy hair is a daily battle, others experience it occasionally.  Frizzy hair looks dull and very difficult to style.

In either case, the main cause of frizzy hair is lack of moisture.

Some other contributing factors are extreme humidity, regular use of a blow dryer, swimming in chlorinated water, certain chemicals in hair care products and using the wrong products for your hair type.

Here are five tips and home remedies for frizzy hair.

1. Avocado hair mask

Simply mash up the flesh of two skinned, ripe avocados, with a tablespoon of olive oil, massage it into your hair and leave it on for about half an hour, before you wash it out again.

Avocados are a great source of natural oils that will moisturise your hair beautifully. Do this once a week and your frizz will soon be gone.

2. Banana and yogurt hair mask

Try a home remedy for frizzy hair made of one mashed up banana, three tablespoons of natural yoghurt and a tablespoon of lemon juice. Leave it on for half an hour, then wash it off and enjoy frizz-free hair.

3. Go easy with the heat

You can help tame the frizz by being kind to your hair too. If you use heated tools like irons and the blow-dryer too often, you will only dry out your hair and damage it even more.

Avoid using heat on your hair as much as possible and, when you do use heated tools, turn the temperature setting down low.

4. Beer

Simply coat your hair with beer, allow it to sit for a few minutes and then rinse it out with cold water. Do this once every two weeks.

Another option is to mix equal amounts of beer, shampoo and conditioner. Apply this solution on your hair. Now brush your hair to create tension. Leave it on for a few minutes and then rinse your thoroughly with cold water.

5. Coconut milk

Put two tablespoons of coconut milk in a small pot and heat it until warm. Make sure it does not get too hot and burn.

Apply the warm coconut milk on your hair and cover your head with a towel. Leave it on overnight. In the morning, wash your hair with shampoo and let your hair dry naturally. Do this twice a week to enjoy shiny and bouncy hair.
