The IIAG assesses governance provision within four distinct conceptual categories

Every year the Ibrahim Index of African Governance provides data for every African country each year from 2000.

Each country receives a score on a scale of 0-100 with the highest score showing the best performance. Countries are also ranked from 1-54 in each year.

The Mo Ibrahim Foundation defines governance as the provision of the political, social and economic goods that any citizen has the right to expect from his or her state, and that any state has the responsibility to deliver to its citizens.
