Shatta Wale pulling out will not mar Bass Awards – Organisers

Shatta Wale announced he has pulled out of the event because organisers failed to deal with him in a professional manner as they put his image on their poster without prior information.

Ahuma Bosco Ocansey (Daddy Bosco) - Board Chairman of Bass Awards

The organisers of the annual Bass Awards have indicated that dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale's decision not to be part of this year’s event will not affect its beauty.

“It will not be affected because this is an industry for a number of artistes. One or two might pull out for certain reasons. However, there is a good number of nominees who are still resolute in their support for the award,” Board Chairman of the scheme, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey popularly known as Daddy Bosco said on Pluzz FM.

In a Facebook post, Shatta threatened to sue organisers should he see his name under any of the categories.

According to Daddy Bosco, the board has taken note and has taken his name out of the nominees.

“We held a meeting yesterday and resolved to take his name out. Basically, what we are doing is building an industry and we want everybody involved. However, as with human institutions, there will be differences in opinions. So we strongly respect his view. We are going to take his name out. Thank God he’s won it before; this year he says he doesn’t want to be part of it. We can’t begrudge him,” he said.

Adding, “We are going to work diligently to endure that going forward, we have all hands on board. We pray that with time, everybody will come around so we have a celebration of our genre that everyone will be proud of.”
