This year’s event was held at the Kempinski Gold Coast hotel for the second time in the show’s 5-year history and was attended by the crème de la crème in the ever-evolving Ghanaian fashion industry.

Chairman of the Radford University College, Nana Dwomoh Sarpong in his welcome address advocated for the government to pay much attention to the fashion and textile industry as it had the potential of creating jobs and ending graduate employment in the country. He also added that through fashion, tourists will be attracted to Ghana which will serve as a mode of accruing revenue.

Students were allowed to create collections of a maximum of 10-pieces to display to guest, lecturers and colleague students.  In the first part of the show Chloe Asaam, Martiokor Smith, Ruth Sebugah, Angelina Yakubu, Esther Adjei, Grenda Addo, Jedidah Ayekpa, Damaris Danso, Roselyn Kwakye and Agnes Yankey showcased their collections amidst applause and cheers from family and friends

The second part which was sponsored by Woodin selected the top students in the class to display their works using fabrics from the textile brand. The list included Dorcas Kpogoh, Winnie Kotei, Candice Temeng, Alice Twum, Femy Sylvestre, Nii Dromo Mensah, Nana Serwah Bonsu and Valedictorian of the class Alexandra Tomiyama who closed the show with a never-seen-before collection fusing Ghanaian and Japan themes.

Speaking after the show, Head of Department of the fashion school, Dr Yvonne Ntiamoah lamented over the lack of structure to help support the industry and young graduates despite what her school has done to equip these students. She, therefore, called government support the initiative

“The fashion industry is a huge market, economically very viable for Ghana, if we can grow and develop this industry, we can use it to develop this country,” Dr Ntiamoah added.
