Chris Hemsworth Just Claimed Not to Know What a 'Thirst Trap' Is

He might be known for flaunting his godlike physique as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Australian actor and former Men's Health cover star Chris Hemsworth is adamant that he doesn't know what a "thirst trap" is. No, really.

Chris Hemsworth Has Never Heard of a 'Thirst Trap'

"Thirst trap? Thirst trap? What is that?" He said during an interview this week with Refinery29 . "Tell me, this is fascinating."

A thirst trap, in case you've been living under a rock for the better part of a decade, is a photo posted to social media with the strict intention of provoking a desirous response from your followers. And because we humans are simple creatures, that usually means showing some body... but not always.

In response to Hemsworth's query, the R29 team showed him a photo posted by his brother Liam which happens to be erotic by virtue of its sheer wholesomeness: he's posing in a cashmere sweater with his dog, looking like the pensive hero of a romantic comedy.

"Oh, so its like, youre trying to play it down like its casual, but youre doing like a.... Thirst trap," said Hemsworth, catching on quickly to the forced nonchalance that so frequently permeates such imagery.

In Hemsworth's defence, a comprehensive investigation of his Instagram feed turns up none of those insouciant, attention-seeking posts that can be found on so many celebrity accounts (looking at you, Jason Derulo ). He does, however, post a hell of a lot of workout videos , which definitely counts as thirst content in some circles.

"Well try to get more of those [thirst traps] going," said Hemsworth in the interview, hinting at more outright salacious posts between the training and cute quokkas . So if you're that way inclined, and not already following the God of Thunder on Instagram, now might be the time.
