Kit Harington Is Reportedly in Talks for a Role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

After playing troubled hero Jon Snow for eight seasons of HBO's epic fantasy hit drama Game of Thrones, you'd be forgiven for thinking Kit Harington might want to avoid getting involved in any other massive franchises for a while. But according to rumors that are circling at Disney's D23 Expo in Burbank, California, Harington is in talks to take a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Could Kit Harington Be About to Enter the MCU?

"Sources said that Harington will join one of Marvel and Kevin Feige's superhero franchises," Deadline reports. At this time it's unclear whether this unspecified role would be in a feature film, or in one of the many planned superhero shows that will stream on the Disney+ service .

Harington had some trouble saying goodbye to the series that launched his career. He got incredibly emotional during the final table read for the show, and compared taking off his costume for the last time to "being skinned." After the series finale aired, he checked himself into rehab for "personal issues" , with multiple sources saying that the end of the show "hit him hard." However, if these new rumors are to be believed, it sounds like he is back and ready to take on a new challenge.

He isn't the first Game of Thrones alum to take a superhero role: in fact, practically every member of his on-screen family has some kind of connection to the world of Marvel Comics. Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) has played the telekinetic heroine-turned-cosmic villain Jean Grey in the last two X-Men movies, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) plays Wolfsbane in the long-delayed The New Mutants, and Richard Madden (Robb Stark) has been cast as Ikaris in the Marvel's upcoming Phase Four movie, The Eternals .
