Lenny Kravitz Says His Ex-Wife Lisa Bonet's Husband Jason Momoa Is 'Like a Brother'

Lenny Kravitz, his ex-wife Lisa Bonet, their daughter Zo Kravitz, and Bonet's new husband Jason Momoa are the very definition of a modern, blended family. In a recent interview with British newspaper The Times , Kravitz opened up about the effort it has taken over the years to reach such a good place to the point that he calls Momoa "like a brother".

"You go through a marriage with somebody, you break up and its very difficult," he said. "But [Lisa and I] put the work in and we took the time so that we could become best friends again. Our families are blended. I love her husband [the actor Jason Momoa] hes like a brother to me and I love the kids. Its beautiful, but it takes work."

It's admirable for two men to put so little stock in old-fashioned masculine pride and actually form a bond for the good of their shared family. Last year, Momoa wrote on Instagram that he had even bought Kravitz and himself matching rings, after finding an artist he knew they would both like.

Kravitz and Bonet eloped in 1987, and they had Zo a year later. The couple then separated in 1993. Bonet started dating Momoa in 2005, and they have been together ever since. They have two children together, and officially married in 2017. Since his relationship with Bonet, Kravitz has dated singer Vanessa Paradis, model Adriana Lima, and movie star Nicole Kidman (who would go on to work with his daughter on HBO's Big Little Lies).

In the interview, Kravitz also spoke about the role models he had growing up, specifically his grandfather, who taught him what it means to be a provider. "When he was nine, his father passed away and my grandfather had to become the man of the house, providing for his mother, who was bedridden, and his four brothers and sisters," said Kravitz. "When he was 17, my mother was born. In New York, he worked four or five jobs at a time to provide for his family. My grandfather had this vision for himself and his family. Were here because of him."
