• Actor Lou Ferrigno is known for sharing gym advice on Instagram.
  • In May, he shared a video on how to deal with gym users who won't get off their phone.
  • Ferrigno recommends asking them politely to let you use the machine, or complaining to the gym's manager.

There are many annoying occurrences that happen in the gym, but arguably none are as irritating as when there's someone working out a piece of gym equipment that you want to usebut they're just sitting on their phone instead of actually exercising.

If you've ever wanted to know how exactly to confront the situation, Lou Ferrigno has a solution for you.

As a former professional bodybuilder and the man who held the titular role in the '70s TV show The Incredible Hulk, Ferrigno knows a lot about the gym. As such, Ferrigno often shares tips about his workouts onlineand he also advises his followers on proper gym etiquette , including phone usage.

In a May 2019 Instagram post, he advised his fans on how to deal with someone at the gym who just won't get off their phone.

"I can't tell you how many times I go to the gym, and I walk over to a piece of equipment, and I see some guy sitting down holding the iPhone like this, staring at it. And I say, 'Excuse me, can I use the machine' and he goes, 'I'm not done yet, I'll be done in 10 minutes.' And then he turns and keeps looking at his phone."

Ferrigno's suggestion on how to deal with it? "Say to him, 'I don't mean to be rude but I'm here to train, and if you don't want to work out, then don't waste your time at the gym.'"

Ferrigno also hilariously quipped that his dedication to the gym explains his current physique: "That's why I look the way I look and they look the way they look."

But ultimately, Ferrigno says that you can always move on and have the gym itself deal with the problem. "Don't let them discourage you," he said. "Find another machine, and complain to the manager."

The actor's page is full of lots of other useful advice, like his thoughts on pre-workout supplements (unnecessary) and showing off in the gym (take it elsewhere). But you've heard the manget off your phone and focus on your workout.
