Rod Stewart Just Posed in a Blended Family Portrait With the Four Mothers of His Children

Rod Stewart just took the ultimate family photo, posing with four mothers to his children at his daughter Kimberly's 40th birthday party. In an Instagram post captioned "a mother's reunion," Stewart and his current wife Penny Lancaster-Stewart stood with Rachel Hunter, Kelly Emberg and Alana Stewart.

Earlier this year, Stewart credited Penny with helping keep the blended family together: an extra tough task when you're married to a famous rock star and could be accused of gold-digging. "She is a remarkable talent for [keeping the blended family together]," Stewart told Hello! "It was hard coming up with all the other kids, they didn't know if it was another woman trying to get hold of dad's money far from it. She won them all over and they all adore her now."

Co-parenting after divorce and remarriage comes with all manner of trials. Lenny Kravitz recently opened up about his own situation : his ex-wife Lisa Bonet, mother to their daughter Zo Kravitz, is now married to actor Jason Momoa. ""You go through a marriage with somebody, you break up and its very difficult," Kravitz said. "But [Lisa and I] put the work in and we took the time so that we could become best friends again. Our families are blended. I love her husband [the actor Jason Momoa] hes like a brother to me and I love the kids. Its beautiful, but it takes work."

So what's the key to staying friends with your ex? According to Jennifer Lawrence, it's brutal honesty. "I have a theory," she told Marc Maron on his podcast last year. "I think it's because I'm blunt. I don't think that you can have any sort of bad relationship with anybody if you're just blunt. Everybody always knows how you feel at all times and there's no lying. It's just honesty."
