Taika Waititi Just Confirmed Korg the Kronan Will Return in 'Thor: Love & Thunder'

The fourth installment in Marvel's Thor franchise will see a number of characters returning, most notably Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who was absent from Thor: Ragnarok but will take on the title and powers of Thor in Love & Thunder . And now director Taika Waititi has just confirmed that another beloved character will be making a comeback: Korg!

Taika Waititi Confirms Korg Will Retun in 'Thor 4'

"My character is coming back, Korg," Waititi said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, drawing cheers from the audience.

The craggy-faced would-be revolutionary first appeared in Ragnarok as Thor's fellow captive on Sakaar, and over the course of that movie he finally got organized and helped lead the slaves (sorry, "prisoners with jobs") in a revolt against the Grandmaster. The character, voiced by Waititi himself, lent some absurd humor to the movie, and was generally part of the colorful wackiness that led to Ragnarok being better-received than the drab-in-comparison Thor and The Dark World.

While he played an integral part in that movie, fans didn't really expect to see Korg again, with some even fearing that he had fallen victim to Thanos after he was conspicuously absent from the opening scene of Infinity War. Which is why it was such a pleasant surprise when he showed up as Thor's roommate in Endgame, being a much-needed friend to the troubled God of Thunder (when he wasn't being bullied by a teenager over Fortnite). He was even present for that epic final battle, appearing via one of Doctor Strange's portals to come to the aid of Thor and the other Avengers.

With Thor off galavanting around the galaxy aboard the Benatar , it's likely that Korg and his trusty companion Miek will be serving as advisors to Valkyrie, who is now King of New Asgard. Fans can see all of them again when Love & Thunder hits theaters on November 5, 2021.
