For more than 30 years, Watchmen has stood the test of time, holding up as not only one of the greatest graphic novels in history, but one of the greatest overall pieces of literature. A 2009 movie divided critics and audiences alike, so now HBO is giving the franchise another shot . Watchmen has long been intertwined with Bob Dylan, so music, and, in this case, a soundtrack, have always been very important.
The network is entrusting Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers) as the showrunner for Watchmen this time, and aside from making some of the best and most groundbreaking television of the century, Lindelof has also been noted for having a wonderful music taste, often choosing just the right songs for his show's music. Even before Watchmen begins, you know he's off to a rousing startthe series' original music is composed by music legend Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails, Academy Award winning composers of The Social Network soundtrack). But that doesn't mean the show doesn't have some prime soundtrack cuts as well.
In fact, Lindelof's last show, The Leftovers, found a way to make the Wu-Tang Clan and "Homeward Bound" by Simon & Garfunkel both key plot pieces, so you know Watchmen is primed to have some more than memorable music moments.
