Will Daenerys Become The Night Queen in Tonight's 'Game of Thrones' Finale?

Tonight's Game of Thrones series finale has a lot of questions to answer, first and foremost of which is: what will happen to Daenerys Targaryen? Last week saw her finally reach her goal of taking King's Landing from Cersei, but it happened in the worst way possible, with Dany committing mass murder and burning the city to the ground. Now that she is the queen of the ashes, will the surviving people of Westeros step in line?

Will Dany Become The Night Queen in 'GoT' Finale?

Doubtful. It's all but certain that Dany will die in the final episode, both as retribution for the innocent children she slaughtered, and to make way for a new ruler. But one fan theory speculates that Dany's death won't be the end of her story.

A post on Reddit outlines how Jon killing Dany could finally fulfill the Azor Ahai prophecy that we've been hearing about for so long, but then adds that Drogon could fly away with Dany at the moment of her death, transporting her North of the Wall, "and through some outrageous tomfoolery, Dany will become the new Night Queen."

It's not entirely clear how that might happen, since the entirety of the White Walkers appeared to be wiped out in "The Long Night," and the Children of the Forest probably wouldn't be into the idea of creating another monster like they did with the Night King. But as twists go, it's pretty great, and wouldn't be out of left field considering how jarring and rushed Dany's descent into madness has been this season.

Fan "fishinglvl" uses Dany's vision from the House of the Undying back in season two as justification for the theory, recalling how Dany almost reached the Iron Throne, before being drawn away to the Wall, and a tent in the snow where she communed with the spirit of her late husband, Khal Drogo. Might this have been foreshadowing her death (or undeath) beyond the Wall all along?

"I think Bran will tell Jon thats where Drogon is going, and Jon will retake his position as lord commander of the nights watch," the theory continues, "and guard the wall (along with lightbringer) for the rest of his life, preparing for Danys eventual return." While we're not convinced this is how tonight's finale will go down, revealing right at the end of the show that the struggle between light and dark is an endless cycle would be about as satisfying as manageable at this point.
