Domestic violence is illegal in Ghana and can result in a prison sentence for those who abuse others. You can file a domestic violence complaint with Ghana police at any station.

The police are then required to help you to a place of safety away from the abuser, and help you seek medical treatment if needed.

The police can then arrest the perpetrator, and the victim can seek a protection order through the court to prevent the perpetrator from coming near them.
