'Bachelor' Peter Weber's Ex Merissa Pence Explains Why She Decided To Talk About Victoria Fuller

Why Did Merissa Go On 'The Bachelor'?
  • Peter Weber's ex-girlfriend is opening up about why she appeared on the show last night.
  • She says she felt obligated to speak out about Victoria Fuller and that she didn't have anything to lose.

If you caught last nights episode of The Bachelor, you know there was a moment during Peter Webers hometown date with Victoria Fuller where his ex showed up and warned him off of Victoria. It was super dramatic and caused Peter to actually skip meeting Victorias family, leaving her in tears in the street.

So, that happened. Well, Peters ex, Merissa Pence, just opened up to Us Weekly about why she decided to appear on the show. (Merissa previously spoke to Us about Victoria and basically said that she was bad news.)

Merissa and Peter dated for five months back in 2012 and ended on a positive note. She later became acquaintances with Victoria through a mutual friend, although, it sounds like, she wasnt super into her.

Our first encounter was that she told me she was going to slash my tires because I was hanging out with one of her ex-boyfriends, Merissa said. She also said that Victoria was responsible for breaking up four marriages. Thats rightfour.

Once Bachelor filming started, Merissa said she briefly talked to producers about Victoria, but it never got anywhere. I knew who Victoria was, as far as her reputation, but I honestly didnt know that she had done as much damage as she had done to our hometown, Merissa said It kind of started becoming a trend. I felt like she was a little more entitled or felt that way at least. And so just leading up to that, I felt like, all these people out here arent going to say anything? I had a totally different stance than everybody because I knew Peter, I know his family, and I know what type of person he is. So I just felt like, if anyone were to say something, I felt like he probably would listen to me versus some random girl.

Merissa said producers reached out to her the Sunday before the hometown show was filmed and said they wanted to have a conversation about her possibly going on The Bachelor.

I talked to them for about an hour. They said theyd call me back. They didnt call me back until about 9:30 [p.m.] and they were like, Hey, we dont feel like weve vetted the situation enough to bring you on the show. I was like, Oh, thats a bummer, but I wish him the best and I totally understand. So I was kinda just like mulling over how I could still make it work, she said. Merissa said that she called a producer the next day and asked if she could watch filming and maybe talk to Peter after his date. Merissa said the producer agreed and texted her 30 minutes before she needed to be there.

I ended up going, I signed paperwork just like everybody else. I wasnt micd up or anything, she said. Merissa said she made her move when she noticed that Peter and Victoria were separated. I was like, Okay, well I guess if Im going to do something, I need to do it now, because I knew going into it, I had prepped myself to not use slander words, like, Im only going to be forthcoming if its invitational, she said.

Merissa said she talked to Peter for seven minutes and told him what she knew about Victoria. He was definitely upset. Everybody could kind of tell the mood shifted, she said. (Merissa also said Peter told her he trusted her.)

Merissa said she ultimately decided to say something because she felt like she didnt have anything to lose. And, she says, one of the wives who was reportedly burned by Victoria in the past thanked her for it.

One of the other wives actually confronted me when I was at a bar in Virginia Beach and I didnt know that thats who she was until after the fact. And she was like, I just want to thank you so much. You took on a huge burden that a lot of us couldnt take on because of other reasons,' Merissa said. Its definitely been crazy. I definitely lost friends because everybody hopped on the fame train, which is fine. Theyll figure it out one way or another. But I never got, the only two hate mail messages were from two people from our hometown that quickly jumped to her side. But other than that, everyones like, Thank you for doing that.'

Despite all the drama, Peter ended up giving Victoria a rose at the end anyway. So...this could get really interesting.
