Jennifer Aniston Was Ordered To Lose 30 Pounds Before 'Friends,' According To New Book

Jennifer Aniston Was Told To Lose 30 Lbs
  • Jennifer Aniston was reportedly told she had to lose 30 pounds if she wanted to succeed as an actress in Hollywood.
  • She says it was "disgusting" that her weight was preventing her from securing roles.

Jennifer Aniston has been in the acting game for years, and of course one of her most iconic roles as Rachel on the '90s sitcom Friends will forever be cemented in pop culture history.

But apparently she was told that she needed to lose 30 pounds if she wanted to make it in Hollywood.

According to a new book, Generation Friends: An Inside Look at the Show That Defined a Television Era , which celebrates the 25th anniversary of Friends, author Saul Austerlitz revealed that Jennifer faced a lot of pressure surrounding her weight and looks during her time on the show.

"She had to lose thirty pounds if she wanted to stay in Hollywood," he writes in his book.

And from what we're gathering, Jennifer wasn't totally on board with the insanity.

Apparently she was forced to show up in just a leotard for one of her many auditions and was worried she'd be done, and told her agent that "This'll blow it for me."

"The disgusting thing of HollywoodI wasn't getting lots of jobs 'cause I was too heavy," Jennifer told Rolling Stone in 1996, per Harper's Bazaar UK . "I was like, 'What?!'"

Though she was far from overweight (not that her weight should have been anybody's businessamirite?!), she admits her eating habits wasn't the best at the time, "My diet was terrible. Milk shakes and French fries with gravy. It was a good thing to start paying attention."

Of course, she since become a fitness and health fanatic. She turned 50 this year and has honestly never looked better. Between her intense workouts and focus on hydrating , she's living her best life.
