Caitlyn Jenner just fulfilled this lifelong fantasy on her 68th birthday

On her E! show, Caitlyn shared what it was like to finally having the courage to wear a bathing suit in public.

The I Am Cait star is celebrating her 68th birthday with a beach vacation and is doing something she had long dreamed of. Caitlyn posted an Instagram video of herself on Friday, Oct. 27 walking along the beach in a plunging one-piece and wide-brimmed hat, spinning around and proclaiming, “Free!”

“40 years ago my therapist asked me what my fantasy is,” Caitlyn explained in the caption. “I told her walking on the beach being my authentic self and...”

On her E! show, Caitlyn shared what it was like to finally having the courage to wear a bathing suit in public. In 2015, on a trip to Napa with some of her trans friends, the then 65-year-old went in a hotel pool for the first time since coming out as trans, with her friends’ support.

“Putting on a bathing suit represents a lot to me,” she explained. “It is kind of scary because, you know, you are really exposing yourself. I am about as nervous as I can possibly be right now.”

Kris Jenner’s ex was happy she did it, saying, “It felt very freeing. I did see my reflection in the glass and I looked pretty good.”

For the past few years, Caitlyn’s entire life has been a progression of getting to her authentic self. The decathlon champ, who won gold in the 1976 Olympics, first told the public that she was transgender in an interview with Diane Sawyer in April 2015. Since then she has legally changed her name from Bruce to Caitlyn and had gender reassignment surgery in January of this year.

“The surgery was a success, and I feel not only wonderful but liberated,” she wrote in her memoir, The Secrets of My Life. “I am telling you because I believe in candor. So all of you can stop staring. You want to know, so now you know. Which is why this is the first time, and the last time, I will ever speak of it.”
