Goalkeeper vows to silence doubters

Super Eagles number one goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme has vowed to prove his critics wrong by putting first class shifts for Nigeria’s national team.

The Nigeria international has not featured for Wolverhampton Wanderers since August in a home clash against Charlton Athletic and many are skeptical that he might not be fit to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The goalkeeper downplays those fears, revealing that he was selected because he is good enough for the team.

"I am here because I am good and I have done well since I made my debut," the goalkeeper told .

"I disagree with those who say I have not really kept against big opposition and that I cannot cope when we face such countries. I will prove myself when that time comes.

"Having played the likes of Congo, Cameroun and Tanzania, I don't think anyone will brand these countries as minnows in African football. Those games were tough and I think I did well and thes occasions."

Ikeme and his Super Eagles teammate will today, Friday, November 13 will face Swaziland in the first round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
