Ghanaian female athlete Agnes Abu has set defied all odds to take down 22 year-old 1500m national record.

Abu, the first Ghanaian female athlete in history to qualify for the big dance in a middle or long distance event, impressively had her personal best by clocking 4 minutes 17.75 seconds.

She has now assumed top ranking among Ghanaian women.

The old national record was 4 minutes 20.2 seconds which was set in 1995 by Gifty Abankwa.
