The world is waiting to see a rematch of Holly Holm Vs Ronda Rousey but the UFC reigning champion wants another opponent.
UFC reigning champ says no rematch with Ronda Rousey
Holly Holm's says Ronda Rousey is not fit for a rematch and proposed a fight with Miesha Tate
Holm beat Rousey to take the title from her on Sunday, November 15 in Melbourne, Australia.
There have been talks of a rematch between the two and UFC officials are keen on it but Holm’s manager Lenny Fresquez has revealed she would love to face Miesha Tate in her next fight.
“I’m not sure Ronda will be ready for a July fight,” Fresquez told LA Times.
“She took a severe beating, and I don’t think it’s in her best interest to take the next fight so fast. They told me she’s been ready and cleared, but … ”
Rousey in her first interview after the loss revealed she lost her teeth during her fight with Holm and that it could be ‘three to six months before she can eat an apple, let alone take an impact’.
Holm manager feels that before Rousey gets ready for a rematch, the rieging UFC Women’s champion could square up to Tate who is currently on a four match winning streak.
“Holly’s used to staying active,” Fresquez said.
“We’re from the old school, and we believe the No. 1 contender is there for a reason. … (Tate) deserves a shot, but it’s not for me to decide.
“We’d like to fight Tate. We understand there are risks, but Holly’s a dominant champion, and she wants to fight the best. Right now, Miesha is the best.”
Tate is ranked number three behind Holm at No. 1 and Rousey at No. 2.
