Indians extend winning run, Johnson homers in MLB

The Cleveland Indians continued their good form in MLB, while Kelly Johnson came back to haunt the Atlanta Braves.

Carlos Carrasco pitched a complete-game shutout as the Indians made it eight straight, beating the Detroit Tigers 6-0.

Johnson delivered a pinch-hit homer in the 11th as the New York Mets overcame his former team, the Atlanta Braves, 1-0.

Andrew McCutchen hit two homers as the Pittsburgh Pirates recorded a 6-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros brushed past the Kansas City Royals 13-5.

The Colorado Rockies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-6 and the Chicago White Sox hit seven homers but lost 10-8 to the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Baltimore Orioles did the double over the Tampa Bay Rays with 5-0 and 8-6 wins, while the New York Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1.

The Seattle Mariners had a 5-4 win over the St Louis Cardinals and the Oakland Athletics beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-3.

The Milwaukee Brewers battled past the Washington Nationals 6-5, the San Diego Padres shut out the Cincinnati Reds 3-0 and the Miami Marlins were 9-6 winners against the Chicago Cubs.

The Texas Rangers thrashed the Boston Red Sox 10-3 and the Philadelphia Phillies edged past the San Francisco Giants 3-2.

WHITE SOX GO DEEP BUT LOSE

The White Sox tied an MLB record for most home runs in a loss with seven against the Blue Jays. The other teams to accomplish the feat were the 1995 and 2004 Detroit Tigers. The White Sox also went back-to-back-to-back for the first time since 2008. CUBS LOOK FOR RESPONSE

Chicago, once on a record-setting pace, have now lost five of their past six games. Jason Hammel (7-3, 2.55 ERA) will face off against Marlins ace Jose Fernandez (9-3, 2.63 ERA) to try to right the ship on Sunday.
