European Tour: Peter Uihlein holds a one-shot first-round lead for the second consecutive tournament after setting the pace in the True Thailand Classic.

In-form Peter Uihlein equalled the course record to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the True Thailand Classic.

Uihlein took??last week off, but carried on where he left off in Western??Australia by carding an eight-under 64 ?????his best round of the year ?????to top the leaderboard in Hua Hin, having also been in front after the first round in Perth.

The Florida native, eyeing his second European Tour title and a first since 2013, has been troubled by a wrist injury,??but showed no signs of being hampered as he made??back-to-back birdies after starting at the 10th.

Uihlein dropped back to one under with his only bogey of a sparkling round at the 12th, but responded with a birdie at 13 and made a further six gains to match the course record set by??Michael Hoey last year.

Pelle Edberg threatened to upstage??Uihlein when he moved into the lead on nine under with three holes to play, but bogeys at the seventh and ninth ensured he signed for a seven-under 65.

A blemish-free eight-under round of 66 put Scott Jamieson and Javier Colomo just two shots off the lead, while Thai duo??Pariya Junhasavasdikul and Prayad Marksaeng are among nine players a further shot back.

Last year's runner-up Thongchai Jaidee is five shots off the pace on home soil, while??Andrew Dodt has plenty of work to do if he is to retain his title after a one-over first round of 73.
