One dead in Upper West Region; 13 infected
One person has been confirmed dead, with 13 others infected in the Upper West Region following the spread of Pneumococcal Meningitis in the area. Speaking to Accra-based Joy FM, Director of Ghana Health Service at Nadowli-Kaleo District, Florence Angsomwini said in just a few weeks, the number of infections have increased from 4 to 13.
Sachet water has no added value to it - GWCL
The Ghana Water Company limited and the sachet and bottle water producers association have accused each other of producing unwholesome water. While the GWCL says 90 percent of the sachet water producers operate under unhygienic conditions, the sachet water producers claim the water from the GWCL to the consumer is contaminated due to the old transmission pipes.
21-yr-old Ghanaian stabbed to death
A 21 year old Ghanaian David Darko has been murdered in South Norwood in the United Kingdom. Darko was found unresponsive at a Park in South Norwood Saturday evening. he was later pronounced dead after paramedic could not revive him. His mother Ivy Darko has appealed to the public to come forward with any information which will lead to the arrest of the killer. Meanwhile police have arrested a 19 year old boy on suspicion of the murder.
NDC quashes suspension decision against Namoale
Member of Parliament for the Dadekotopon constituency Nii Amasah Namoale has been pardoned by the Greater Accra regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after he was suspended by the party in November 2015. A statement signed by the Secretary of the Greater Accra branch Victor Quarshie Adonoo stated that the MP has apologized for the way and manner he conducted himself after the party’s presidential and parliamentary primaries.
Sunderland abandon transfer chase for Ghanaian Ayew
English Premier League team Sunderland has given up on signing Ghanaian player Andre Ayew after Sam Allardyce confirmed the deal was off. The Black Cats were reported to have made an initial transfer offer for the Ghana Black Stars vice-captain which was rejected by Welsh club Swansea City.
