It is not immediately known what caused the faecal matter to leak from one of the cesspit chambers at the side of the car park which led to the private entrance for lawyers.  This caused people using the premises to hold their breath for a few minutes as they entered the building.

According to 3news, most lawyers suspected that a plumbing defect had caused the leakage. Later in the day authorities at the court complex ordered for the place to be flushed with some water and detergent. Even though this reduced the stench, the leakage is yet to be solved.

Speaking to 3news a private legal practitioner, Joe Debrah who experienced the situation said something must be done about the leakage and stench immediately. He said “it was terrible it was very bad,” because the building is not up to a year old.

President John Mahama inaugurated the court complex in October last year. The president asked the judiciary, and other users of the court maintain the facility in a good shape.

The complex has a banking facilities, cafeteria, a 300-seater auditorium, a library, business and media centre, executive office for the Attorney General and Police Prosecutor and a data centre among other facilities.

It also has 10 land courts, 10 commercial courts, six criminal courts, six general jurisdiction court, three divorce and matrimonial courts, two financial and economic courts, two human rights courts, two labour courts and a Probate and Administration court.
