Desperate relatives search for loved ones not seen after gas explosion in Accra

Death toll from the accident has been put at three and as many as 25 people are said to have sustained multiple injuries.

The explosion, which started about 7:30 PM, begun at a Goil filing station. It then spread to a Total petrol station across the street at the Atomic Junction and caused multiple explosions.

“My sister and her kids they are in there,” a desperate relative told Joy News.  “We are calling them but they are not picking the calls.”

Another man, also said: “One of my daughters, we can’t find her. My wife works there. When they were coming, I don’t know what happened. Now if I am calling her, I can hear from her.”

Another mother, whose son attends Presbyterian Boys Senior High School, said she has not heard from him, after it was reported that the students have left the school to a safer place because the fire was likely to spread to the school.

According to her, she has placed several calls to the Senior House Master to check on her son but to no avail.

Meanwhile, the Police say the fire has been controlled.
