The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana say they expect a reduction of import and export tariffs in the 2016 Budget to be read on Friday 13th November 2015, and have no room for an increase.

In a statement copied to Pulse Business, the Importers and Exporters say they have realized that consistently government resort to taxing importers in order to cap revenue generation shortfalls.

They are however making  it clear to government, the minister of finance and parliament,  not to consider further taxing importers and exporters.

The Association's claim, they say, is strongly rooted on the premise of the  losses they have incurred due to harsh economic conditions in 2014 and 2015. A situation, they say has not been helped by the frequent increases in tariffs when they get to the ports.
