On “getting electricity” Ghana improved from 122 in 2016 to 120 in 2017, ranked 154 on “trading across borders” from 167 in 2017 and improved on “resolving insolvency” from 158 in 2016 to 155 in 2017.
This was contained in The Doing Business 2017 report, titled '’Equal Opportunity for All', released last week.

"Ghana made trading across borders easier by removing the mandatory pre-arrival assessment inspection at origin for imported products," the annual report stated.
However, Ghana dropped in its rank on “starting a business” from 103 in 2016 to 110 in 2017, dropped on “dealing with construction permits” from 112 in 2016 to 117 and dropped on “registering property” from 76 in 216 to 77 in 2017.

Other areas Ghana dropped in the rankings include “getting credit” from 42 in 2016 to 44 in 2017, dropped from 85 in 2016 to 87 in 2017 on “protecting minority investors” and dropped from 119 in 2016 to 122 in 2016 on “paying taxes.”
In addition, Ghana dropped from 111 in 2016 to 114 in 2017 on “enforcing contracts.”
In sub-Saharan Africa, Ghana ranked 9 out of the 47 countries ranked in the region. The Top 10 countries in the region are Mauritius, Rwanda, South Africa, Botswana, Kenya, Seychelles, Zambia and Lesotho.
