The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has called on Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to fix Ghana’s broken economy.

He said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the campaign ahead of the 2016 general elections promised to fix the economy when voted into power.

He added that Ghanaians listened and voted the NDC out of power. He said Ghanaians do not expect excuses from the governing NPP but solutions.

“Now our own words we’re chewing it, Ghanaians voted for us to fix the economy which was destroyed by the NDC. So no theories anymore, they’ve given you the power and we don’t want to hear excuses. All we want to hear is that we are going to fix the economy and make sure the teeming unemployed youth get job. So just as Nana Akufo Addo asked President Atta Mills to fix the economy, Dr Bawumia should do same,” he said on Adom TV.

The Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta has often stated that the Nana Addo-led government is on course to seal leakages in the system which are affecting revenue mobilisation.

He adds that the leakages have resulted in corruption and joblessness in some circles.

Speaking at the National Policy Summit in Accra Monday (May 15, 2017), Mr Ofori-Atta noted said most of the leakages are not necessarily caused by politicians.
