Failed Promises TOR will not be reopened any time soon - Workers Union

Workers of Tema Oil Refinery(TOR) are worried that moves being made by government to revive operations  of the refinery will not materialize.

The workers are skeptical that proposed partnership between government of Ghana and the Petrol Saudi aimed at  reviving  the ailing Oil exploration and production company, the Tema Oil Refinery,  is taking too long to materials.

The minister of Petroleum  Mr. Armah Kofi Boah announced five months ago that government had brokered a deal with Petrol Saudi to import oil and transform TOR.

But three months after the timeline scheduled for the completion of repair work on the refienery.

Chairman of the Junior Workers Union of TOR, Emmanuel Orfoh, shared his pessimism over the re-establishment of TOR.

" As at now I  don't know the in and outs of that deal,  whether the deal is still on or not. Because the ministry was the one in charge, and up until now, nothing is being said about it. It has taken too long for it to materialize. I don't know if at the ministry level they are still working."

The chairman of the Junior Workers Union of TOR further cast doubts on the promises of the Minister of Petroleum.

" Personally, I will only believe the words of the minister if I see TOR back in operation, otherwise I will not beleive. "
