Energy supply in the country is set to worsen if   the Bulk Oil Storage and Trasport Company takes over assets of the Ghana Gas Company.

The staff issued the warning on Thursday after the announcement by the Power Ministry that BOST would be made to takeover parts of the Ghana Gas Company.

The spokesperson of the staff of the Ghana Gas Company, Joshua Aluma  says the move would demoralize workers of the company, who had already put in their best to increase the efficiency of the company.

“When  someone is performing we need productive growth decisions to consolidate the company to perform better. Ghana Gas saw a 97% growth last year and noone gave us a chance to do this well. We don’t expect anybody to come at this time to come and make decisions at the backdrop of the staff’s knowledge.”

He added the Ghana Gas company had done well to minimize the country’s protracted energy crisis, hence must be encouraged.

“Our concerns as staff is we don’t want Ghana Gas to be fragmented. We want many more of Ghana Gas Company to be established. And taking this decision will not benefit the power generation efforts of the country.”

The Ghana Gas Company is also demandeing for the payment of the 350 million dollars owed it by the Volta River Authority to be paid. This, they say, would turn the company around.

The workers on Wednesday issued a statement giving  government a three-week ultimatum to reverse the BOST takeover decision or  the workers will lay down their tools.
