Ghana port clearance to go completely paperless

The target is for the country to go completely paperless in its import and export facilitation process by 2017.

Ghana is set to go completely paperless under the third phase of the Ghana National Single Window project being undertaken by the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

The target is for the country to go completely paperless in its import and export facilitation process by 2017.Currently, Ghana’s clearing process is semi-paperless, this is after the first and second phases of the Ghana National Single Window project.

CEO of West Blue Consulting, the IT Company behind the implementation of the single window, Valentina Mintah, believes the Single Window program will make Ghanaian businesses more competitive in the global business space.

“ The next phase will reduce the time spent by importers and exporters in securing documentation. It would also increase the country’s global ranking in the Trading across Borders Report from the current position of 171 in 2016 to 121 by 2021.”The project is expected to reduce the cost and time of international trade by 50% and 25% respectively over the next five years.
