Twitter was down globally for almost 3 hours. Users complained that they could not access the service.
Twitter went down because of an ‘Internal Code Change’
Now we know what happened. It was due to an "internal code change."
Twitter Inc responded in a series of tweets saying "This issue has now been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience."
"We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution," Twitter said.
The company did not provide further details.
The company said: "The intermittent issue affecting some users between 00:40 to 06:50 PST has now been resolved. The issue was related to an internal code change. We reverted the change, which fixed the issue. Thank you for your patience."
What this means is that someone wrote some bad code that crashed things for a while.
Visitors to the website were greeted by a message telling them that "Something is technically wrong".
"Thanks for noticing," the message reads. "We're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon."
