ADB presents $100,000 house to 2014 Chief Farmer

ADB has presented a fully furnished three-bedroom house to the National Best Farmer of 2014

 

The presentation took place at Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region.

The fully furnished house, built at a location chosen by the beneficiary, comes with burglar-proof reinforced doors, a water storage system and a garage among other essential amenities.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Board Secretary of ADB, Mr. James Agbedor, noted that ADB took over the title sponsorship of the Farmers' Award Scheme in 1987 and has since maintained the "heritage" of presenting the ultimate prize to the National Best Farmer.

"The sponsorship of the grand prize of a fully furnished three-bedroom house to the ultimate winner at the preferred location of the winner, has become an ADB heritage," he said.

He continued to reassure farmers of the bank's continued support for the agricultural industry, "...though the bank is currently going through some critical transition, we hope to sustain this gesture into the future. It is the pledge of ADB and we shall continue to sponsor this programme."

Also speaking at the event, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, commended ADB for their continued support for the scheme and urged all the farmers present to continue striving in the agriculture sector and see the award as another motivation to do more.

Mohammed Muniru, who is the also called on other corporate institutions to follow ADB's lead and offer their support for farmers and small-holding businesses in the agric sector.
