Twitter has announced that its verification feature is now open to all of its users.

Before the announcement, only celebrities, politicians and business figures were entitled to this exclusive feature which sought to address the problem of fake accounts of personalities online.

However, this does not mean just about anyone will get verified.

Anyone seeking to get verified will have to through a number of processes. You must use your real name (for the average people) or your stage name (for emerging artists). This is same for businesses.

Twitter requires you to have the following linked to your account as a start.

Aside these, Twitter will ask you to tell them why you should be verified; get your essay writing skills up. For personal accounts you will have to explain your ‘impact’ in your field and for businesses; their mission.

You may also be asked to scan an identification document such as a passport or driver’s license to “confirm your identity.”

If your request denied; you will need to try again after 30 days.
