“Don’t shiver,” Darko said when a member of the committee expressed frustration over drugs being imported into Ghana.

“I can beat my chest and tell you that the regulatory body is one of the best on the continent.”

Her response follows the report that some drugs imported into the country and sold on the local market are unregistered.

These drugs include Coartem, Procold, Zentel, and Amodiaquine Suspension.

Officials of the Food and Drugs Authority disclosed this when they met the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament in connection with their operations on Monday, August 7.

The drugs mentioned are part of a list of 72 drugs the FDA said were imported into the country between 2012 and 2013, without authorisation.

The drugs on the list are said to be used for treating flu, malaria, and others.
